But as you know, you have to kiss many frogs before you find your prince. So after tasting many versions of Nocciolatas, we have finally found the right one.
This delicious Nocciolata is produced from 60% Italian hazelnuts from Piedmont, 30% sugar and 10% unsweetened cocoa. It contains no preservatives, additives or palm oil.
On the other hand, it is perfect on freshly baked bread, a warm croissant, as a topping on cakes, as a layer cake filling, over ice cream, for pancakes. Yes, in fact, the possibilities for how you can use our Nocciolata are very many.
In the heart of Asti Monferrato lies the farm Fratelli Durando. They have been producing I.G.P certified hazelnuts of the Tonda Gentile Trilobata variety since 2008. Fratelli Durando was established in 1884, and is today run by the great-granddaughter Sara and her husband Alessandro. They live in the middle of the plantations and harvest their own nuts. Sara and Alessandro started producing Nocciolata because they wanted to use the hazelnuts in a natural way that could preserve the good properties of the nuts (hazelnuts are rich in dietary fiber, B and E vitamins and magnesium). They tried their hand at home in the kitchen with the premise that only hazelnuts, cocoa and sugar could be included in the recipe. To ensure uniform roasting, the hazelnuts are cleaned and roasted in an infrared oven. It also adds extra flavor and aroma. The roasted hazelnuts are then refined at our own refinery, where the Nocciolata is finished by adding sugar and cocoa.
